Welcome to our journey in the deadliest disease ever known Cancer!
In 2022, there were an estimated 20 million new cancer cases and 9.7 million deaths. Lung and breast cancers are the most common tumors in terms of incidence and mortality. As people live longer, the incidence of cancer is rising worldwide and the disease is expected to strike over 20 million people annually by 2030. This course is designed for people who would like to develop an understanding of cancer and how it is prevented, diagnosed, and treated. This course will provide a foundational understanding of the biological mechanisms behind cancer development, progression, and treatment.
The course introduced by Hend Gamal, MSc, PhD in Cancer Biology
About the instructor
Dr. Hend Gamal received an MSc and a Ph.D. from the Department of Zoology at Mansoura University, Mansoura, and Specialized in the Cancer Research Field. She has highlighted the different novel methods for Cancer treatment including modified chemotherapeutic drugs, natural products, gold nanoparticles, and finally photothermal technique. The impact of this work has led to several publications, regular appearances at prestigious conferences, and awards nominations for prizes from the scientific community.

Target Audience
The course is designed for undergraduate, graduates, postgraduate students. Also include healthcare providers, oncologists, and researchers.
Target colleges (Science, Pharmacy, Medicine, Biotechnology, and similar disciplines).
Aiming at raising awareness or basic understanding to highly level of cancer for non-experts, patients and experts.
Aim of this course
Understanding cancer is crucial for several reasons:
- Early Detection and Prevention: Regular screenings and awareness of symptoms can help detect and prevent cancer early, ensuring it is most treatable and prevents further complications.
- Informed Decisions: Cancer knowledge aids in making informed health decisions, including lifestyle choices like diet, exercise, and tobacco avoidance, which can reduce cancer risk.
- Support and Advocacy: Knowledge about cancer allows individuals to support loved ones, advocate for improved healthcare policies, and support funding for cancer research.
- Reducing Stigma: Understanding cancer can decrease stigma, promote open conversations, and enhance mental health support for those affected by the disease.
- Advancements in Treatment: The latest research and treatment options can offer hope and access to new therapies that may enhance outcomes.
